Music is certainly one of the most effective means to unite and feel part of a community, be it cultural or spiritual. This is precisely why songs of praise and worship are currently taking on new and different forms: not only Christian-themed songs inspired by various passages from sacred texts, but also songs that speak of current issues shared by various peoples. Conveying important messages, which do not only touch on religious aspects, but also common values such as world peace and happiness, is among the motivations that gave birth to Gen Verde.
Songs of adoration and prayer
When we speak of worship songs, we refer to those pieces of music created to express devotion and worship. This genre of music is widely associated with Christian traditions, particularly the contemporary worship movement. Worship songs are designed to inspire a sense of spirituality, reflection and connection with the divine.
Worship music, as we know it today, began to take shape in the 20th century during the charismatic renewal movement and the evolution of contemporary Christian music. Currently, worship music continues to spread through songs of adoration and prayer, with the main purpose of sharing inspirational and motivational messages.
Gen Verde worship songs
Among Gen Verde’s proposals, songs of praise and thanksgiving undoubtedly occupy a special place. In particular, the song ‘Nelle mani tue’ written for the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Focolare Movement. The message of the song is to trust God, even in the midst of difficulties.
Another song that accompanies us in moments of prayer and reflection is ‘A New Beginning’: a song that invites us to a new beginning of peace and universal fraternity.
Gen Verde’s extensive repertoire not only includes worship songs in Italian, but also songs in several languages. An example is ‘Girl On A Mission (Magnificat)’, whose lyrics were composed for World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal and is not limited to the English version, but is available also in: Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. This song carries a beautiful message of courage, joy and freedom.
